With the number of active NBN users up, from 70,000 a year ago to 210,000, NBN Co chief executive Bill Morrow said that the initiatives put in place in the last six months are starting to pay dividends. “We have stabilised the existing rollout, strengthened our relationships with our construction partners and are making significant headway in transforming the company,” Mr Morrow said. “These achievements are a result of hardworking contractors, third party partners and our highly motivated people under the direction of a new leadership team.
The review — commissioned by the Coalition government, and run by the Vertigan Panel of Michael Vertigan, Alison Deans, Tony Shaw and Henry Ergas — covered four scenarios: no further broadband rollout, an unsubsidised rollout, the current government’s multi-technology mix (MTM) scenario and the former government’s FTTP plan.
