Figures from the ABS showed the current account deficit widened to $13. 74 billion in the June quarter, in line with forecasts. "That gives you a sense that some of those downside risks to second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) have been removed somewhat," Mr Rennie said.
But he said traders were keenly awaiting for the Reserve Bank interest rate announcement later on Tuesday and the June quarter gross domestic product figures on Wednesday.
