Aust stocks tipped to open weaker

Locally, the Australian Bureau of Statistics is due to release national accounts, including gross domestic product for June quarter, and Reserve Bank of Australia governor Glenn Stevens is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a CEDA event in Adelaide.

The Australian sharemarket is tipped to open lower ahead of key gross domestic product growth data on Wednesday. At 6. 45am (AEST), the September share price index futures contract is down one point at 5,647.

On Tuesday, the Australian share market gained ground in afternoon trade to close higher, despite lower iron ore prices and no surprises from the RBA's latest board meeting.
